Dear colleagues,
I have a pleasure to inform
you that we are now in the process of establishing Armenian Entomological
Society (AES) as a Youth Ecological Group's working intiative. The Society
is aimed at unifying young entomologists and amateur insect lovers to
maintain and enhance their efforts in studying systematics, faunistics,
ecology, biogeography and conservation of insect fauna in Armenia and
other regions of Caucasus. Particular attention is paid to raising
awareness of children and respectful attitude towards the Nature. The AES
prepares a number of proposals on insect research and increasing
scientific and educational potential of local youth. Also, AES shapes the
professional and green tourism programs.
We welcome any kind of
contribution in form of advices, comments and sponsorship. We already have
a small scientific library which needs expansion, and look forward to
obtain more bibliography about insects. Similarly, our specimens
collections is not so large as it would be desired, so if you can endow us
the insect materials, preferably determined, we will greatly appreciate
it. All this will contribute to strengthening of entomological basis in
Armenia and Caucasus.
The AES consists of many
highly qualified professionals having extensive experience in working with
youth and children, and we plan to become a center of environmental
education for young people in Armenia.
