Training

The young researchers, mainly post-docs, receive a technical and scientific training in well equipped laboratories and that includes among others a series of short term visits in all nodes of the network. The complete package of scientific and technical skills should allow the young researchers to become highly competitive in many fields of research, from fundamental research up to industrial applications.

Up to now, several activities at the level of technical and scientific training, such as the INCHECO workshop and meetings, allowed us to improve our knowledge and know-how concerning general as well as particular aspects which are approached in INCHECO. A few examples of such activities are given below, and which concern internal, scientific meetings on general or particular topics.

3st INCHECO Conference in Giessen (31 March - 3 April 2003) organized by Sergio Angeli and Tina Trenczek. Twenty three talks were given.

Molecular Workshop in Brussels (9-13 December 2002) organized by Gert Meijer, on isolation of DNA, sequencing and phylogenetic tree reconstruction.

Mid-Term Review Meeting in Brussels (30 August 2002).

2st INCHECO Conference in Pisa (6-10 March 2002) organized by Jose M. Prieto and Ivano Morelli. Nineteen talks were given.

Meeting in Brussels (04 January 2002; four individuals present) to discuss some aspects of our further research in the field of analytical chemistry, and of the organization of the 2nd INCHECO conference.

Meeting in Pisa (17-21 April 2001; three individuals present) organized by Jose M. Prieto, on the chemical and bio-guided isolation of plant secondary metabolites, which are active by phagostimulation on sawfly larvae.

Meeting in Leiden (6 April 2001; four individuals present) organized by Caroline Müller, especially on her work, but as related also to the work of other young researchers.

Meeting in Leiden (8-9 March 2001; six individuals present) organized by Caroline Müller, on the phenomenon "easy bleeding": description of the phenomenon, present implications in our different fields of research, etc.

1st INCHECO Conference in Delémont (i.e., a meeting and workshop, 6-10 January 2001) organized by Alison Barker and Urs Schaffner. There were over 40 participants during the Workshop.
